My newest song, Now Together, was just released on March 22. I haven’t said much about it yet, since we were waiting for it to actually be available on all platforms (a few of them were dragging their feet). However, I have special cause to write about it, because Ian surprised me today with a lyric video!
This song goes waaay back. Ian first wrote Now Together in February 2019, so it’s been floating around in his brilliant mind for a good five years. It’s taken multiple forms, but it started out on acoustic guitar. If you’ve read a few of my posts, you may recall that I’m not too particularly fond of sad songs or breakup songs, yet here I am singing a breakup song. So why??
This is a breakup song written by my husband, so clearly since we’re still together and he wrote the song well before he met me, it is obviously about someone else. Not gonna lie, I was a little weirded out at first at the whole idea of singing a song that my man wrote about another woman! But, if he hadn’t broken up with her, we wouldn’t be Now Together ourselves. And we are. (See what I did there?) Besides that, this song does actually have some sentimental value to me, because Ian busted out his guitar and sang and played it for me on our very first date.
As I said, this track originally sounded very different, although the lyrics stayed pretty much the same. Ian will soon be writing his own account of the song and how he produced it, so I’ll leave a lot of the details for him to tell. Having me sing the song definitely put a new spin on it, as I totally Kristenized it and made it my own, while still maintaining the song’s intended feeling. Watching a song evolve like this one has was truly inspiring, and I’m glad to have been a part of it. Here’s a link to download and stream.
Thanks for reading and listening! We hope you enjoy our labor of love.
